This grand scale home on Mackinac Island is located in the 19th century resort community called "Hubbard's Annex." It was built in 1885, and is a fine example of the Queen Anne designs that are the Island’s hallmark. As the private residence of a prominent Mackinac family, the house has been restored, renovated, and expanded. SmithGroup has worked closely with the owners since 1995 to realize their creative and eclectic plans for their estate.

Currently under construction is a dramatic one and a half-story kitchen design that includes a raised hearth fireplace, exposed trusses, wide-plank flooring, a handcrafted copper farm sink, and reproduction "ice box" refrigerators.

Additional projects over the years have included a master suite with a dressing room, custom floor-to-ceiling cabinetry, and an unusual copper-lined shower in the master bath; an artist's garret in which a second tower was added to the attic to create a light-filled painting studio; and a traditional library with built-in shelves and window seats.
