Grosse Pointe, MI

Original Construction
1927
Completion Date
1987

The Grosse Pointe Club acts as a “home away from home” for its members and is indeed a unique place with its rich heritage and its standing in the community. Originally designed by prominent Detroit architect Robert O. Derrick and opened on the shores of Lake St. Clair in January 1927, the classic Colonial Revival clubhouse replaced the club's initial 1923 quarters. The original building has had many improvements over the years, both to the building and site, and underwent a major building and infrastructure renovation in 1987. Facing the ongoing stewardship of this historic waterfront asset, HopkinsBurns Design Studio was selected to guide historic preservation, structural updates, and site master planning to ensure the facility continues to serve generations of members while honoring its original architectural fabric.
